Carbonit Ion Exchange Resin Lime/Refill Pack Carbonate Hardness (KH)
Application area:
- Water softening for drinking purposes (not for household utility water) without regeneration effort
- only in combination with IK refill cartridge
- not for water below 6.5 pH
- to prevent sodium release through ion exchange, e.g., in cases of high blood pressure
Description:
- Lime removal through ion exchange
- Carbonate hardness is reduced, no sodium release
- usable only in connection with IK refill cartridge
- not regenerable, single-use
Dimensions:
Performance:
- depending on the hardness level of the inlet water, see manual
- disposal at the end of service life in household waste
- for hygienic reasons, a replacement every six months is recommended
- Resin color: light beige
- Flow rate: Limiting to D=1 l/min is recommended; higher flow rates are possible but reduce removal performance
- flow limitation via ball valve adjustment (see manual) or flow regulator (see spare parts & accessories)
- the pH value of the filtered water decreases slightly, therefore do not use for pH values below 6.5
Usage notes:
- Use only with cold water, protect from frost
- effectiveness detectable only via carbonate hardness
- measure hardness using test strips or titration sets (more precise). Note: Carbonate hardness (not total hardness)
- measuring equipment available from aquarium suppliers (e.g., JBL, Tetra, Sera ...)
- note the alternative solutions under Documents:... (comparison)
- Attention: The expiry date printed on the box label indicates minimum shelf life. It is generally set to 6 months after filling and ensures the granulate does not dry out (reduced performance when dry). Storing large quantities of refill packs is therefore not advisable. The granulate remains fully effective after the expiry date if slightly moist (like damp soil). Returns after expiry are not possible.
Filter devices:
usable only in combination with
